Second Visitor Into the Sun

First there was Oumuamua and now Second Visitor has arrived in the Solar System. Only the United Federation of Planets starship Columbia, captained by Elias Long, can intercept.  The Columbia quickly leaves Phobos base.  So quickly that Harlan Smith, President of Mars, is still aboard, an unwitting stowaway.

But who sent this interstellar craft and why?  Where did they come from and where were they going? What things beyond the scope of human experience are contained in the ship?  Are technologies inside that man, a violent species, is not meant to have?  Humans have thousands of questions and Long is determined to find the answers.

As exploration is winding down and Second Visitor and Columbia approach the sun, a sudden course correction necessitates an emergency evacuation.  The last exploration party led by Long, accompanied by a Visitor, barely makes it back to Columbia in the cargo shuttle Phobos IV, the exterior partly melted.  

But wait!  Did everyone make it back to the Columbia in time and where was Harlan Smith???  Did he remain in the vessel, an interstellar stowaway?  There was no turning back without getting incinerated, but it wouldn’t do to have lost the President of Mars..

Second Visitor to the Stars

Chase Summerfield, Cheryl Cummins, and Harlan Smith are left behind when the exploration ship Columbia leaves the interstellar ark, Second Visitor to avoid being incinerated by the sun. When the Hormong discover the inadvertent stowaways at the destination planet, New Hormong, joint colonization with the earthlings begins. The colony is growing rapidly, and humans and Hormong are living in harmony when Colony Ship 76 arrives with a Crushnock placed in a cryostasis unit by a maintnobot. The occupant, heavily armored and with deadly appendages capable of slashing an enemy to pieces, is a creature from hell. During questioning, the Crushnock breaks restraints and kills one of its captors before being cut down by blaster fire.

Undetected by the Hormong, the Crushnock followed Colony Ship 76 to its destination. They make plans to invade and conquer New Hormong. Earthlings and Hormong combine forces as the Humong and build a formidable space fleet. An apocalyptic battle ensues, but how can the Humong prevail against an enemy with no regard for sentient life other than their own and will keep coming until they have won the battle or all are dead.
